What can you expect on the day of the event?

If you are intending to catch the bus to the start you should refer to the page entitled Bus transport.

Once you are at the start, either via the Genesis bus or under your own transport, you will find toilets, coffee and tea and a clearly marked registration desk.

You should arrive at registration no later than 7.15am. There is a briefing at 7.45am and one mass start at 8.00am with the serious joggers allowed to take the front position.

The only variation to the starting order is that I do allow a handful of older bike riders to depart 5 minutes before the group. This group of people have supported our walk for several years as walkers but in recent times have maintained their involvement via bicycle.

Registration

The registration desk will be open from 6.00am until 7.45am. Instructions regarding registration and payment of funds, etc will be announced regularly during the morning. Registration will close at 7.30am. A compulsory briefing will be held at 7.45am. All participants must attend this pre-event briefing.

The official start will be 8.00am sharp. Half marathon runners will be asked to take a place at the front. Families, pushers, prams and roller blades will be asked to take a place at the rear of the start. There is only one start.

Volunteers

The Southern Charity Challenge operates with a small group of volunteers.

Due to he increasing numbers of participants we require additional volunteers who can spare a minimum of 2 hours on one Sunday in April. Your work will help make a better world by supporting Oxfam Australia.

If you are interested in being involved as a volunteer at the Southern Charity Challenge you should email Brad at brad@bbpl.com.au or phone him on 08 8552 2411 or mobile 0408 846 422
